What Ever happened to Common Sense?
Having recently opened a bank account at a nearby local branch of a Florida bank due to the recent closing of my other banking facility; I was surprised at what happened there recently.
Now, we all know there are those with such low intellectual/emotional capacity that they almost crave to be taken care of: three meals a day, a bed to sleep in, TV, even computers and gymnasium activities, medical and dental attention, when needed.
So someone of this level of ability attempted to rob the bank. Since he was unarmed and arrived by foot, he was fairly easy to track down and capture.
Lo and behold, he achieved his goal!
And, we've all heard of or experienced the bit about the teacher who was writing on the board with her back to the class. (This is not recommended - for elementary classes – or most, for that matter. Better to have a student write on board or have the material on the board prior to students entering the classroom.) Anyway someone throws a spitball or crinkled
paper at teacher's back. S/he punishes the entire class – no recess or movie scheduled for Friday afternoon – whatever.
Now that branch is punishing all clients. Everyone must ring a doorbell. As if that is going to keep criminals away. Punish the innocent like the teacher who has not learned classroom behavior control techniques.
Will we all have to ring bells to enter all banks soon or will someone put up a sign: Employees Armed or devise some thing rather than punishing customers?
In liberty,
Audrey Taggart
