Live Local

There is a new law in Florida dubbed “Live Local.” All of our representatives (2 reps, 1 senator) voted in the affirmative. It was touted as a means to allow young people starting out as adults to be able to live where they went to school, spent their lives, where their friends and family reside, etc. It includes “Affordable Housing” which is a very vague concept to pin down whomever you talk to.

In political science the concept of providing housing or mechanisms to do so fall under the government umbrella of socialism. Many 'blue' cities and states in the US practice the concept to severely negative ends. NYC has projects built in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, etc. in which one would be taking his life in his hands to enter the elevators in most. They also have rent control, rent subsidy, Mitchell-Lama apartments and many other socialistic enterprises. Similarly, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit have such burdensome policies.

Now, in Florida - the land of the free, we have this abomination which is another step on the road to serfdom (socialism). The American way – home ownership – has been crushed.

The housing to be built is not limited to residents of the local county, nor to Florida residents, nor to American citizens for that matter. It will probably two to three years before any are actually built. With no residence restrictions, it will probably be the illegals (undocumented lawbreakers) to whom the current resident of the White House has opened our southern border.

There is some rumbling in our county government regarding this attack on local control. Let's hope something like a call to repeal comes from it!

In liberty,
